Gary Clark, a fourth generation Washington Countian, has committed his entire life to serving his community. Gary was born in 1968 to Howard and Gayle Clark of Chipley. Gary is the grandson of the late Frank and Catherine Clark of Chipley and the late Alfred and Lettie Bradley of the Bethlehem community. Gary grew up in Chipley and attended Kate Smith Elementary School, Roulhac Middle School and Chipley High School. After high school Gary attended Huntingdon College on an academic scholarship. He later transferred to Gulf Coast Community College and then to Chipola College where he received his A. A. degree.
In 1988 Gary was offered an opportunity to participate in a co-op education program with West Florida Electric. Shortly after his enrollment in the program Gary was offered a permanent position as a Marketing Representative for the company. Moving quickly through the corporate ranks Gary became one of the youngest Vice Presidents in the cooperative system at age 28, a viable position in which he still holds.
In 1992 Gary married Staci Skroback of Andalusia, Alabama and welcomed their first child Emily in 1995. James Wesley completed the Clark family in 1999. Staci is a 1991 graduate of Auburn University and is CEO of Galo Enterprises, the family owned business. Balancing a family and a career Gary decided to enter the political arena at age 26 and was elected to the Washington County School Board. Since his election 12 years ago Gary has successfully held this position unopposed. Gary is very proud of the confidence the citizens of Washington County have shown with their support and commitment.
Throughout his career Gary has continued his education in numerous capacities including several national professional certifications including: Certified Energy Manager, Certified Business Energy Professional and Certified Key Accounts Executive. Gary is a member of the National Association of Energy Engineers and is one of a few non-engineers to hold these distinctions. In addition, Gary has never lost sight of the value of education and will complete his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in October of 2006.
For a man who has made the political arena his second home, Gary still enjoys the quality family time most of all. Gary and his family are members of the First Free Will Baptist Church in Chipley, where Gary grew up and has attended his entire life. Gary is firmly committed to his spiritual and moral values and credits his parents and his church family for this foundation.
